Jujube — Radio, discovered.
Privacy Policy
Jujube is a privacy-first internet radio application provided by Hoofpick Ltd, trading as Apparati (“Apparati”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Privacy contact: support@apparati.co
This policy explains how Jujube handles information when you use the Jujube application on iOS or Android.
Last updated: 4 November 2026
1. Privacy summary
Jujube does not require an account and does not operate an advertising, analytics or user-tracking service.
Your favourites, recently played stations, personal stream URLs, hidden stations and most other preferences are stored locally on your device. Jujube does not upload this information to Apparati.
Jujube connects to third-party services when you search for stations, play a stream, load station artwork, identify a song, make a purchase or use a link to an external website. Those services receive the technical information ordinarily required to process an internet request, such as your IP address.
We do not sell personal information, share it with data brokers or use it for targeted advertising.
2. Information stored on your device
Jujube may store the following information locally on your device:
- Favourite and recently played stations;
- Personal station names, descriptions and HTTPS stream URLs;
- Search and discovery results cached for performance and offline display;
- Stations you have reported and hidden;
- Playback state and the currently selected station;
- Sleep and wake-alarm settings;
- Your Jujube Plus entitlement status; and
- App preferences and permission status.
On iOS, limited station and playback information may be stored in Jujube’s private App Group so that its widget and App Shortcuts can work. On Android, station and playback information may be made available to the media notification and Android Auto.
This information is not used to build an advertising or listening profile and is not uploaded to Apparati.
A station report made inside Jujube is currently an on-device report: it hides the station for that user. It is not published or associated with an online user account.
3. Station discovery
Jujube uses the community-operated Radio Browser directory. When you browse or search, Jujube may send the following to a Radio Browser API mirror:
- Search text and selected category, language, country and sorting filters;
- Pagination and result-limit information;
- A Jujube application user-agent identifier;
- The UUID of a station when it is selected, so Radio Browser can update its popularity count; and
- Technical connection information, including your IP address, which is automatically visible to the server handling the request.
Recent directory results may be cached locally. Jujube does not send your favourites, personal stations or listening history to Radio Browser.
Radio Browser mirrors are operated independently. Their handling of server logs and connection information is outside Apparati’s direct control.
4. Radio playback and artwork
Jujube does not host, proxy, record, download, convert or retransmit radio broadcasts.
When you play a station, your device connects directly to the broadcaster or its streaming provider. That provider may receive your IP address, device connection information and the date and time of the request.
Station artwork may be loaded directly from the image address supplied by Radio Browser. The image host will receive similar connection information.
Broadcasters, streaming providers and artwork hosts are independent third parties and apply their own privacy practices and geographic restrictions.
5. Personal stream URLs
You may add your own direct HTTPS audio or HLS stream URLs to My Radio. These stations are stored locally and are not submitted to Jujube, Apparati or Radio Browser.
When played, your device connects directly to the address you entered. You should only add streams you are entitled to access.
Jujube also provides links to external stream-finding resources. These links open outside Jujube, and the destination website’s privacy policy applies.
6. Song identification and microphone access
Song identification is optional and begins only after you tap Identify Song and grant microphone permission.
Jujube uses Apple’s ShazamKit technology on iOS and Android. A short audio sample is processed into an audio signature for comparison with the Shazam catalogue. Apple states that raw audio is not shared with Apple and that Shazam audio signatures cannot be reversed into the original audio.
Jujube does not save the microphone recording or maintain a song-identification history. The recognition result may be displayed for the current app session.
On Android, Jujube first requests a temporary ShazamKit authorization token from a Jujube-operated Cloudflare Worker. No microphone audio or audio signature is sent to that token service. Cloudflare may process ordinary technical request information, such as an IP address, to provide and secure the service.
You can withdraw microphone permission at any time in your device settings.

7. Purchases
Jujube Plus is offered as a non-consumable in-app purchase.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or Google through Google Play. Apparati does not receive or store your payment-card details. The store provides Jujube with the information needed to determine whether Jujube Plus has been purchased or restored, and Jujube caches the entitlement status locally.
Apple or Google may process account, transaction, device and payment information under their respective privacy policies:
Apparati may receive aggregated store sales and financial reports from Apple or Google.
8. Wake alarms, notifications and background playback
If you create a wake alarm, Jujube supplies the chosen time and station information to the device’s system alarm services:
- AlarmKit on supported iOS versions; or
- Android alarm and notification services.
This information remains on the device and is used to present the alarm and open the selected station. Notification, alarm and background-audio permissions can be changed in your device settings.
9. Information you send to us
If you contact Apparati for support, we may receive your name, email address, message and any diagnostic information or screenshots you choose to provide.
We use this information only to respond to your request, investigate problems, protect the app and comply with legal obligations. Please do not send sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your request.
10. Sharing and disclosure
Apparati does not sell or rent personal information. Information is disclosed only:
- To the third-party services described above when necessary to provide a feature you request;
- To service providers acting on our behalf, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations;
- When required by law, legal process or a competent authority; or
- When reasonably necessary to protect users, Apparati or the security and integrity of Jujube.
Jujube contains no advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK or cross-app tracking technology.
11. Legal bases for processing
Where the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or similar law applies, information is processed on one or more of the following bases:
- To provide a feature or service you request;
- With your consent, such as when you grant microphone or notification access;
- For our legitimate interests in providing support, maintaining security and improving reliability, where those interests do not override your rights; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
Third-party services may process information as independent controllers under their own policies.
12. Retention and deletion
Locally stored app information remains on your device until you remove it, it is replaced by newer information or you uninstall Jujube.
You can remove favourites, delete personal stations, cancel alarms and restore hidden stations within the app. You can revoke microphone, notification and alarm permissions through device settings.
Uninstalling Jujube normally removes its local application data, subject to the operating system’s backup, restoration and retention behaviour.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.
Because Jujube has no user accounts and Apparati does not receive your local library, Apparati ordinarily has no remotely stored favourites, personal streams or listening history to delete.
13. International processing
External providers and Radio Browser mirrors may operate in countries other than your own. Information transmitted to them may therefore be processed internationally under their respective terms, privacy policies and applicable transfer safeguards.
14. Security
Jujube limits its collection of information and uses HTTPS for directory requests and user-entered personal streams. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and for using trusted personal stream URLs.
15. Children
Jujube is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically at children under 13 or the applicable minimum age in their country. Apparati does not knowingly collect personal information from children through Jujube.
Radio stations are provided by independent broadcasters and may contain material unsuitable for children.
16. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, or to receive a portable copy.
Most Jujube information is stored only on your device and can be managed by changing settings, removing saved items or uninstalling the app.
For information held by Apparati, such as a support email, contact support@apparati.co. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Jujube’s features, service providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated within the app where appropriate.
